About the Contributors

Michael Speight is a current graduate student completing his Master of Business Administration at Ohio University.  He will be beginning work on his Master of Sports Administration as part of the Ohio University 2011 MSA class in the fall of 2010.  Recently, Michael also accepted a graduate assistant position with the Ohio Bobcat Club doing athletics development fundraising.  Prior to enrolling at Ohio, Michael spent time as an athletics development intern at Northern Illinois University in the Huskie Athletic Scholarship Fund.  A native of Bethesda, Maryland, Michael graduated from the University of Maryland in 2008 with a degree in Economics.

Matt - Professional Pic1Matt Kirinovic (right) is currently working as a development assistant with the European Athletic Association in Lausanne, Switzerland. A 2009 graduate of the Ohio University MBA/MSA program, Matt interned with the Indiana University Varsity Club in 2009, where he implemented the creation of the first-ever donor referral program. During his time at Ohio, Matt spent a year as the Development Graduate Assistant for the College of Health and Human Services, where he set an annual record by raising over $95,000 and implemented the first multi-year pledge program, raising over $130,000 in pledges. Matt is a graduate of Hope College in Holland, Michigan where he received a degree in Management. He was born and raised in Big Rapids, Michigan and plans to begin his career in intercollegiate athletics in 2011 after returning to the United States.

William Broussard began his stint as Associate Athletic Director for External Relations at Northwestern State University in February 2007, coordinating fundraising activities through the Athletic Association and Demon Victory Fund, and serving since 2008 as Assistant Professor of Journalism and Public Relations.

In his three years as Executve Director of the NSU Athletic Association, the Association has established, set, or re-set 15 records for revenue generation and membership numbers.  In those three years, the Athletic Association has attained more than $3.75 million, broken annual records for total and Demon Victory Fund attainment, Select 100 membership, gifts-in-kind, corporate sponsorships, licensing royalties, and the number of endowed scholarships has grown over 30%.  A nationally reputable consultant on writing program administration and avid writer, Broussard has presented nationally and been published in academic and political journals, national trade and regional magazines .

Broussard earned his Ph.D. from the University of Arizona in May, 2007.  He was a May 2000 graduate of the Louisiana Scholars’ College at Northwestern, earning his degree with distinction in English, with an emphasis on Professional Writing.
